In summer, they can be placed outdoors but need gradual acclimation to bright sun. Water sparingly—once a week in summer and less in winter, only when soil is dry. Fertilize every 3-4 weeks in summer, not at all in winter. Historically used by Cleopatra for skin care and in Asia for medicinal purposes, Aloe vera soothes insect bites and sunburn.
